100th anniversary of the Carpathian-Balkan geological association (CBGA)

During the 22nd Congress of Carpathian-Balkan Geological Association (CBGA) held in Plovdiv, Bulgaria (September 7?11, 2022), 100th anniversary foundation CBGA was marked. A resolution for establishing ?Carpathian Association? adopted during 13th session international Brussels (August 19, 1922). it a result efforts and initiative R. Kettner(Czechoslovakia), J. Nowak (Poland), G. Munteanu Murgoci (Romania), V. Petkovic (Yugoslavia). Later, after Second world war, association changed its name to (CBGA). last hundred years, has passed several phases existence organization regarding European geopolitical changes. main goal remained same as at beginning: promote encourage joint fundamental applied geological research region surrounding area. today, many geoscientists from 16 member states collaborate frame official working groups CBGA, EU professional projects, business meetings topics, education programs, etc. is affiliated with union Science (IUGS) one oldest regional organizations. Based on increasing industrial environmental demands needs an interest region?s vast scientific community, we believe can improve activity give additional benefits industry, environment.
